Yesterday I attempted my first-ever upload to the Archive: another (I hope better) version of "The Brain That Wouldn't Die." I filled in the blanks, and waited patiently for the upload to proceed. After it finished loading, I clicked the button "Share my files(s)" and got this message:

"Please wait for the identifier assignment to finish."

The upload finished over 12 hours ago, and I'm still getting this message. Did I miss something in the process, or does the "identifier assignment" really take this long to complete?

Thanks for your help.

i don't see an item page created by your account. did you choose a unique identifier (title)? if you chose one already in use the page would not be created. the system would suggest one (below the title filed) which you could use.

try starting over, click the Upload button. it should show that your field is still uploaded waiting to complete the process. choose a new identifier, see if it accepts it or suggests a different one and try to finish.

if this fails you can contact us at info@archive.org for more help.

I *thought* I did, but I'll certainly try again. Thanks for the prompt and courteous reply.
